PRI announces operation phase of world’s largest carbon capture pilot

The Prairie Research Institute, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy, has launched the world’s largest carbon capture pilot at City Water, Light and Power’s Dallman 4 coal-fired power plant in Springfield. This $80 million project showcases Illinois’ leadership in carbon capture research and is expected to generate significant regional economic benefits, including $47.1 million in economic impact and $5.6 million in tax revenue. The initiative highlights the collaborative efforts of local, state, and federal stakeholders in advancing environmental sustainability.
